Children’s teeth are precious and need gentle care. |
Caring for your children’s teeth from an early age is not only extremely gratifying but the best financial gift to your child. There is a misconception that baby teeth or primary teeth will be shed anyway, so why take all the trouble.
Good teeth help children to speak clearly, chew, and pave the way for a good set of adult teeth. We constantly see children become self conscious and embarrassed because they have lost a few teeth or the front ones are blackened through decay. All this is easily preventable.
Good oral hygiene combined with Children’s Dentistry plays a very important part in the overall health of your child. Early Childhood Caries (ECC) is a bacterial disease which afflicts many children. These include baby bottle tooth decay, nursing caries, rampant caries, and sipper cup caries. Eliminating oral disease is hinged on managing the plaque build up from an early age, and staying on top of it.
Life threatening rheumatic heart disease and joint problems are strongly linked to infected teeth.
As part of our PREVENTIVE CARE commitment, we establish a partnership between parents, the child and our team. Some children are nervous and apprehensive of the dentist. Yet in a couple of visits, we see just the opposite, and children don’t want to leave the dental chair as they become comfortable and relaxed.
From around 2 years of age we recommend that you bring your child in for a visit. They will get to have a ride in the dental chair and find out more about their teeth. Dr. Loy and his team will make your child feel right at home and help understand the importance of caring for their teeth. We will train parents who will then train their kids in great oral care.
Your child’s early dental experiences form their lifetime approach to dental hygiene and care. Routine dental check-ups from an early age can help to eliminate the fear of the Dentist and establish a good dental routine to follow throughout their lives.
